I tried 'Maruchan Red Tempura Soba' and 'Maruchan Green Tempura Udon' which are topped with colorful and fragrant tempura.

Toyo Suisan released the cup instant noodles ' Maruchan Red Tempura Soba ', ' Maruchan Green Tempura Udon ' and ' Maruchan Yellow Tempura Curry Udon ' on Monday, October 28, 2024. I actually tried eating them because they were said to have round tempura dyed in each image color.

This time, I was able to purchase two types: 'Red Tempura Soba' and 'Green Tempura Udon.' I was unable to find 'Yellow Tempura Curry Udon.'

I'll try the 'Red Tempura Soba'.

The ingredients are as follows.

Calories are 417kcal per serving.

When I opened the lid, there was red tempura on top of the noodles and vegetables, as well as powdered soup and spices.

The red tempura is really bright red, and it does have a scent reminiscent of pickled ginger.

Add powdered soup.

Pour in boiling water and wait 3 minutes.

After 3 minutes, add the spices and it's done. The spices are chili peppers.

The soup is made with a balanced mix of bonito stock, soy sauce, and sugar, and it certainly has the sweet and spicy taste of soy sauce and sugar with the flavor of bonito.

The red tempura made with pickled ginger has a strong pickled ginger aroma, and its subtle sourness and sweetness blend well with the broth. The tempura itself is mostly just batter and fried dumplings, so the flavor changes little by little as you crumble it into the broth and eat it.

The noodles were the usual 'Akai Kitsune' soba.

Next, I will try the 'Green Tempura Udon'.

The ingredients look like this.

Each serving contains 437kcal.

The udon and toppings were topped with green tempura, along with powdered soup and furikake.

The green tempura is apparently seaweed tempura.

Add the powdered soup, pour in hot water and wait 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, sprinkle on some furikake and it's done. The furikake is made from seaweed, and the moment you sprinkle it on, the aroma of nori floats around the room.

The soup base is made from bonito, kelp, and dried sardines.

The noodles are flat udon noodles with a chewy and smooth texture.

The tempura and furikake give off a vivid seaweed scent, and combined with the fragrant broth of bonito and dried sardines, it gives off a much stronger Japanese taste than the regular 'Green Tanuki'. However, since 'Green Tempura Udon' is '5 minutes after pouring hot water', if you want to enjoy the crispy texture of tempura, it is best to remove the tempura beforehand, pour in the hot water, and then add it at any time you like.

'Maruchan Red Tempura Soba' and 'Maruchan Green Tempura Udon' will be available at supermarkets and convenience stores nationwide from October 28, 2024. The suggested retail price is 236 yen excluding tax. It is also available on Amazon.co.jp, and at the time of writing, a set of 12 can be purchased from the following for 2,490 yen including tax.
