Huawei's smartphone sales grow 42% year-on-year in China while Apple struggles
Research companies IDC and Canalys have each released reports on the Chinese smartphone market. Vivo continues to hold the top market share from the previous quarter, while the second place is almost a close call. According to IDC, Huawei's sales volume is up 42% year-on-year.

According to a survey by IDC, China's smartphone market share looks like this. Topping the list is vivo with a 18.6% share. Next are Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, and Honor, all with just a 1% difference in share. The overall year-on-year growth rate of sales is 3.2%. Among them, Huawei has shown a large growth of 42% year-on-year, vivo has increased by 21.5% year-on-year, and Xiaomi has increased by 12.8%. Meanwhile, Apple is struggling with a 0.3% decrease, and Honor has fallen sharply with a 22.5% decrease.

IDC writes that Huawei's world's first tri-fold smartphone, the HUAWEI Mate XT, announced in September 2024, is expected to promote the development of the foldable device market.

Honor is also in second place in the foldable device market with its Magic V Flip and Magic V3 , and is expected to make a comeback in the future.
In the Canalys survey, vivo ranked first (19% share). The rankings below are slightly different from IDC, with Huawei in second place (16%), Honor in third place (15%), Xiaomi in fourth place (15%), and Apple in fifth place (14%). Huawei's growth rate was 24%, one point lower than vivo's 25%. Apple's share fell by 6%.
