Diama is an AI image recognition inspection system developed in-house to detect problems at Ringer Hut factories, such as 'too much filling in gyoza' or 'printing on packaging is misaligned.'
A demo model of Diama, an AI-based foreign object inspection system that is also used in Ringer Hut factories, was on display at the food-related trade show

Dearma is an image recognition inspection system developed by Ringer Hut Development Co., Ltd. It is used in Ringer Hut factories and is also sold to other companies. Dearma works by taking pictures of food with a camera and analyzing the images with AI and OCR to check them. The only hardware required is a small camera and an image processing inspection device, so it can be introduced without making major changes to existing production lines.
This is a small camera.
The image processing inspection device looks like this. The demo machine had a 'device to check for printing abnormalities' and a 'device to check for gyoza abnormalities.'
Here's how it works: First, food moves along a production line that incorporates Diama.
As the food passes under the small camera, the inspection result is displayed on an image processing inspection device.
If it detects an abnormality, such as 'the gyoza is too dark,' it will display 'NG.' The inspection takes less than 200 milliseconds.
Foods that show abnormalities are removed from the line. A robot arm was used in the demo machine, but other devices can also be used.
It is also possible to detect printing errors using OCR.
AI can be customized to suit the food. For example, it can be optimized for the purpose of 'detecting anomalies in bento boxes.' Below is a demo machine of Diama that detects anomalies in bento boxes.
As an example, the following bento boxes were prepared. The bento on the right contains two anomalies: 'There is a foreign object on top of the rice' and 'The ingredients are wrong.'
Diama was able to instantly detect the abnormality.
When we asked the person in charge about Diama's strengths, he said, 'AI foreign object inspection systems are also used in the pharmaceutical industry, but pharmaceutical systems will judge something to be abnormal if there is even a slight difference in shape or color. Food is not completely uniform in shape or color, so pharmaceutical systems run into the problem of identifying normal food as abnormal. In that respect, Diama has been optimized for food use, based on our experience at Ringer Hut factories.'
