Apple has released the first updates for iOS 18, iOS 18.0.1 and iPadOS 18.0.1 . iOS 18.0.1 is primarily intended to fix bugs in the iPhone 16 series, while iPadOS 18.0.1 fixes an issue that caused the M4-equipped iPad Pro to become inoperable after updating to iPadOS 18.

The patch notes state that iOS 18.0.1 includes important bug fixes and security updates for the following iPhones:

An issue where the touchscreen may become temporarily unresponsive on iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models
The ultra-wide camera on iPhone 16 Pro models may experience an issue where the camera freezes when recording 4K macro mode video with HDR turned off.
-Sending a message that contains a shared Apple Watch face may cause the message to quit unexpectedly
- A memory allocation issue that may affect performance on some iPhone models

It has been reported that the issue of the iPhone 16 touchscreen becoming temporarily unresponsive occurs when the user unintentionally touches other parts of the screen. Several users have reported that touch and swipe actions are not detected when the user places their finger on the right side of the screen, as shown in the video below.



◆iPadOS 18.0.1
Apple released iPadOS 18 on September 17, 2024, but a bug was reported that updating to iPadOS 18 would cause the latest iPad model, the M4-equipped iPad Pro, to stop working. In response to this, Apple stopped distributing iPadOS 18 to the M4-equipped iPad Pro.

iPadOS 18.0.1 fixes this bricking issue, so the new features of iPadOS 18 can now be used on M4-equipped iPad Pros.
