Ryujinx is a project that engineer gdkchan has been developing since September 2017, and continued to distribute even after another Nintendo Switch emulator, Yuzu, was suspended after being sued by Nintendo.

On October 1, 2024, riperiperi, one of the Ryujinx developers, reported on Discord, 'Yesterday, gdkchan was contacted by Nintendo and offered a proposed agreement to stop work on the project and delete the organization and all related assets under his control. While waiting for confirmation that he would comply, the organization was deleted.'

At the time of writing, if you access Ryujinx’s GitHub repository , an error message will appear.
Additionally, while the official Ryujinx website remains public, the download button for Ryujinx and the link to the data hosted on GitHub are no longer working.
The official website posted new information almost every month until 2024, but updates stopped in January 2024. Additionally, the last post on Ryujinx's official X (formerly Twitter) account was in March 2024, aside from a deletion notice.
It's sure been a while coming but we're happy to announce that our Avalonia frontend is now being rolled out to everyone in version 1.1.1216 onwards!

Ryujinx has been considered a more difficult project to tackle than Yuzu, as there have been rumors that lead developer gdkchan is based in Brazil, a country that is tolerant of emulators. While there is no evidence of this, there is no evidence that Ryujinx's Discord server has been shut down or its GitHub repository reported for copyright infringement, as with other emulators.
The Verge, an IT news site, said, 'Several members of the Ryujinx team's official Discord have announced their departure, so this is definitely the end of the official Ryujinx team, but it's not necessarily the end. We haven't heard from gdkchan yet, and it's possible that a fork of Ryujinx, like Yuzu, will continue on GitHub or online, or their code could become the basis for another emulator in the future.'
There are several forks of Yuzu, but the most representative successor project, suyu, continues to be published on its own self-hosted server even after being removed from GitLab, although the last stable release was six months ago at the time of writing.
