'ANIME FANTASISTA JAPAN 2024' is an event showcasing the work of anime fantasists, including live drawing, where you can see animators draw animations right in front of you.



ANIME FANTASISTA JAPAN 2024 , an event that promotes the achievements of Japan's 'anime fantasistas' to the world from Musashino City, home to many animation production companies, will be held at Kichijoji Excel Hotel Tokyu on Sunday, August 11th and Monday, August 12th, 2024. Prior to the opening ceremony, the venue will host a variety of exhibitions and anime screenings, as well as a live drawing session of 'Her Memories,' a chapter from the anime film 'MEMORIES.'

The venue is Kichijoji Excel Hotel Tokyu, a 5-minute walk from Kichijoji Station.



A sign reading 'If you want to experience the real thing, come to Musashino City!' is displayed in front of the hotel entrance.



The venue is on the 7th floor and admission is free. Some talk sessions require a fee and reception is on the 8th floor.



The schedule for the main stage is as follows, with both the 11th and 12th starting with a live drawing event, followed by a talk session in the second half.



The 11th will start with 'LIVE SAKUGA'.



The event involved animator Kaito Nakazawa animating a scene from 'Her Memories,' a segment of the 1995 animated film 'MEMORIES,' using the animation supervision and corrections of Toshiyuki Inoue. The event was scheduled to start at 11:30, but the animating had already begun by 11:00.



The workshop will include an anime drawing experience taught by animator Rie Nishino, as well as a digital drawing experience using CLIP STUDIO PAINT.



The 'Original Drawings Exhibition' will feature original drawings from three films by Studio Ponoc, 'The Little Hero - The Crab, the Egg and the Invisible Man,' which were released in theaters in 2018, as well as storyboards and original drawings for 'Her Memories,' and setting materials for 'TRIGUN STAMPEDE.'



In a room at the back of the venue, a 'From the Archives! Anime Screening' is being held.



The screening schedule is as follows: anime movies and OVAs such as 'MEMORIES' and 'Fantasy Story Elcia', as well as short films created in the Young Animator Development Project will be screened.



On August 11th, there will be an event titled 'FEATURING

Inoue Toshiyuki's Drawing Debauchery ,' which will feature animators Inoue Toshiyuki and Imamura Ryo's 'Thinking from 'Her Memories'' and a signing session, as well as a talk session with Inoue, Oshiyama Kiyotaka, and Kojima Takashi titled 'From 'Flip Flappers' to 'Look Back' -- On the Ideal Production System.'

Also, on August 12th, the event will begin with a live drawing by Tatsuzo Nishida of 'Phoenix: Flower of Eden,' followed by 'Musashino's FANTASISTA TALK' by Kazuya Kise and Yoshitomo Kameda, 'The Current State of Rotoscoping 2024' by Haruko Kuno, the team 'Bakeneko Anzu-chan,' and Kenji Iwaizawa, and a talk session titled 'A New Era of Drawing -- Art, Photography, and 3DCG' by Ken Yamamoto and China.

Admission to the live drawing is free, but each talk session requires a paid ticket. Prices vary depending on the session, but advance tickets are also available at a discount compared to same-day tickets, so if you're interested, be sure to check out the official website .

At the opening ceremony, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was performed by Musashino Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Isamu Takahashi, Musashino City Tourism Organization Chairman Hideo Inagaki, Musashino City Mayor Yasuhiro Omino, and Kichijoji Excel Hotel Tokyu General Manager Yoshitsugu Saito.



In his speech, Mayor Omino mentioned the installation of designer manholes in cooperation with Core Mix and '

Anime no Manga no Musashino ' as examples of how Musashino City is putting effort into anime. As ANIME FANTASISTA JAPAN is held on the same day as Comic Market, he expressed his enthusiasm, saying, 'We want the whole of Musashino City to work hard to make this an event that surpasses Comiket.'

After the opening ceremony, a talk session entitled 'Thinking from 'Her Memories'' was held by Inoue Toshiyuki and Imamura Ryo.



There will also be a talk session in which Oshiyama Kiyotaka, Kojima Takashi, and Inoue Toshiyuki will talk about their ideal production system.



On the second day, a live drawing session was held by

Tatsuzo Nishida , character designer and chief animation director of the anime film ' Phoenix: Flower of Eden .'



The theme of the piece is '

The Phoenix: Flowers of Eden Cinema Symphony ,' which will be held at Musashino Civic Cultural Center on December 24, 2024, and it depicts Romi conducting, Com playing the flute, and Cain playing the trumpet. The piece was scheduled to last 1 hour and 30 minutes, but Nishida was quick and completed it in just 1 hour.



Because of this, Nishida also drew the Phoenix in the remaining 30 minutes. He was also quick enough to finish coloring it within the time limit.



There was also a talk by Kazuya Kise and

Yoshitomo Kameda entitled 'FANTASISTA TALK Connected by Musashino'. Kameda mainly dug deep and Kise answered, and many interesting topics were discussed.



After the talk event, there was also a signing session.



Kameda-san compiled information on X about what works were mentioned.



At the seminar titled 'The Current State of Rotoscoping 2024,' producer Keiichi Kondo of ' Bakeneko Anzu-chan, ' director Haruko Kuno , assistant animation director, layout and key animation director Akane Hirai, CG director Chika Iizuka, and director Kenji Iwaizawa of ' Ongaku ' took to the stage. They talked about the making of their respective works and the two directors talked about rotoscoping.



In

the session 'A New Era of Animation -- Art, Photography, and 3DCG,' director Yamamoto Ken of the movie 'Uma Musume: Pretty Derby: Door into a New Era' and director China of 'First Line ,' one of Toho's talent support projects, ' GEMNIBUS vol.1, ' discussed in depth about the two of their careers, their work, production systems, and more.
