World's first 'fully automated robot dentist successfully treats human cavities'
For the first time in the world, an autonomous robot controlled by AI has treated a human's tooth decay. The company that developed the robot said that it can perform the procedure eight times faster than a human.

The entire treatment system was developed by Perceptive, a company that develops dental robots, and the treatment is divided into two steps: 3D scanning with a handheld scanner and treatment with an autonomous robot.
The treatment begins with a scanner used to scan the inside of your mouth and create a 3D model of your teeth.

If at this point the human dentist determines that treatment is necessary, the robot dentist can take over.
Perceptive's robot dentist specializes in filling and capping treatments, and can complete the work in about 15 minutes. Perceptive said, 'A human would take nearly two hours to treat a tooth, and a dentist would usually ask you to come in two separate times. But with this robot, the treatment takes just 15 minutes.'
You can see the robot dentist in action in the video below, and Perceptive says it's 'capable of working safely under the most dynamic conditions.'

'We are excited to have successfully delivered the world's first fully automated robotic dentistry,' said Chris Ciriello, CEO and founder of Perceptive. 'This groundbreaking medical technology will increase the precision and efficiency of dental care, making better dental care available to more people. We look forward to evolving our system and pioneering fully automated dental solutions.'
