Tasting review of 'Bonchiage Koshien Curry Flavor', a crispy fried rice cracker that reproduces the famous curry of Koshien Stadium

'Bonchiage

Koshien Curry Flavor,' which reproduces the taste of Koshien's specialty gourmet 'Koshien Curry, ' was released on Monday, July 15, 2024. I actually bought and tried Bonchiage, which reproduces the characteristics of Koshien curry such as 'burnt onion extract' and 'spices such as turmeric, coriander, and cumin.'

The package for 'Bonchiage Koshien Curry Flavor' looks like this.

It is called 'age senbei' (fried rice crackers) and its ingredients include non-glutinous rice, curry seasoning, curry powder, bonito stock powder, and kelp stock.

Calories are 275kcal per bag.

I took out all the contents of the package.

There is curry powder on the surface.

When I tried it, I found that the distinctive features of Bonchiage, 'a crunchy texture when you bite into it' and 'a combination of saltiness and umami,' remained the same, but with the addition of the sweetness of fried golden brown onions and the spicy taste of curry powder. It tasted like curry, but it wasn't spicy at all. The taste and aroma of the spices whetted my appetite, and I finished it in no time.

'Bonchiage Koshien Curry Flavor' has been on sale nationwide since Monday, July 15, 2024, and was sold at nearby supermarkets for 116 yen including tax. Also, at the time of writing, a set of 20 bags is available on Rakuten Market for 3,318 yen including tax + shipping.
