Windows Notepad finally gets spell check and autocorrect features
Notepad, which has been included with Microsoft's MS-DOS and Windows for over 40 years, will be getting spell checking and autocorrect features in Windows 11.

The spell check feature added to Notepad in Windows 11 is similar to the spell check feature in common software such as Word, and when you type a word incorrectly or use an unknown technical term, it displays a red wavy line under the word. Right-clicking on the wavy line displays candidates and allows you to select the correct word from the candidates.
Spell checking is enabled by default, but you can enable or disable it for individual file types, and spell checking is automatically disabled for log files and other coding-related file types.
In addition, Microsoft has added an 'autocorrect' feature to Notepad. This feature automatically corrects typos when you have the spell check feature enabled. The autocorrect feature can be disabled in Notepad's settings.
These features have been tested since March 2024 on version 11.2402.18.0 for Windows Insiders, but at the time of writing, it has been reported that they are being rolled out to official Windows 11 users as well.
First released in 1983, Notepad has remained largely unchanged for decades, but in recent years it has added dark themes, multi-level undo, tabs, autosave , a rotating settings button, and a word count.
