Tesla recalls nearly all Cybertrucks over windshield wiper malfunction

Tesla has recalled Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023 and June 6, 2024 due to a problem with the wipers. More than 11,000 vehicles are affected, and foreign media Mashable reports that 'Given that Cybertruck deliveries

began in November 2023, the recall applies to almost all vehicles.'

According to the recall report, excessive electrical stress on the affected vehicles could cause the windshield wiper motor controller to stop functioning, which could result in reduced visibility and increased risk of a collision under certain conditions.

Tesla confirmed the initial defect in the wiper motor on February 2, 2024, and recalled 20 wiper motors to conduct root cause and failure analysis. It took four months to identify the cause of the failure, and the report states that the decision was made to voluntarily recall the affected vehicles on June 12, 2024. Replacements will be free of charge.

Tesla has not confirmed any crashes, injuries or fatalities related to this issue.

The Cybertruck's extra-large windshield had been a hot topic even before its release, with people criticizing the wipers for being 'too large.'

This is the fourth recall for the Cybertruck. Most recently, all vehicles were recalled in April 2024 due to a 'defective accelerator pedal.'
