Like OpenAI, which provides ChatGPT, Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is also in talks with Apple to enter into an AI partnership, The Wall Street Journal reported. According to the report, the negotiations between Apple and Meta have not yet been finalized and may not be concluded. The Wall Street Journal has reached out to both companies for comment, but Meta has declined to comment and Apple has not responded.

Apple's approach to AI has been to start modestly by adding AI-enabled features to existing products, rather than viewing the latest AI introduction as an opportunity for complete reform or disruption. As a result, Sara Perez of TechCrunch described Apple Intelligence at the time of writing as 'a bit boring and pragmatic.'

If Apple is successful in forming an AI-related partnership with Meta, it will reduce Apple's reliance on OpenAI and give Meta a great opportunity to prove the effectiveness of its generative AI technology. According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Apple does not intend to pay Meta for the partnership, but instead plans to allow Meta to sell premium subscriptions.
