When hackers attack some kind of institution, it is often the case that the purpose is to steal data or to demand a ransom by holding the data hostage. However, a hacker group called SiegedSec , which targeted the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) , one of the largest nuclear research laboratories in the United States, is making unprecedented demands in exchange for the stolen data.

An INL spokesperson acknowledged that the institution had been the victim of a data breach and explained how it was responding, saying in a statement that the institution 'determined a cybersecurity data breach occurred in a federally certified system outside of the laboratory that supports INL's cloud human resources services. INL took immediate steps to protect employee data.'

Following INL's announcement, hacker group SiegedSec admitted to carrying out the attack, claiming to have accessed sensitive employee data, including social security numbers and home addresses. 'We intend to do business with INL,' SiegedSec wrote in a post admitting the attack.

SiegedSec calls itself a 'gay furry hacker,' where 'furry' means 'covered with fur' and refers to the subculture of 'furry fandom, ' which is a love affair with anthropomorphized animals. In Japan, there is a term called 'kemona' that refers to a similar culture or sexual preference.

SiegedSec, who describes himself as a 'gay and furry hacker,' demanded that INL study the creation of 'cat girls' in exchange for making confidential employee data stolen from INL private.

When asked why SiegedSec targeted INL and why they hacked it and then asked for 'promotion of the creation of cat girls,' SiegedSec replied, 'We are cats and we don't care about complicated things like 'why we did it.' INL was not targeted for any particular reason.'

Regarding the identity of SiegedSec, who is conducting large-scale hacking and seeking 'cat girl creation,' investor Tony Zerga, who also has ties to the CIA , posted, 'SiegedSec appeared just days before Russia's invasion of Ukraine and has focused much of its activities on targets related to NATO . In other words, they are calling for the promotion of cat girls, but their original purpose is to damage NATO and to attack the United States. They are a pro-Russian group.' However, SiegedSec has repeatedly denied that it is Russian-related, and in response to Zerga's post, 'Mr. Zerga and others are spreading unfounded and false claims that SiegedSec is a Russian state-funded attacker. We challenge them. If they can find evidence that we are Russian, we will share it publicly. (If they can't) we will definitely embarrass them,' he strongly denied.
