Adobe Acrobat users will be able to use new Firefly-based features within Adobe Acrobat starting June 18, 2024. These features include the ability to use Firefly to enhance images, remove backgrounds, erase, and crop by entering text prompts, as well as embed generated images anywhere in a PDF using Firefly's Image 3 Model.

Adobe claims that 'Adobe Acrobat is the first PDF solution to offer image generation capabilities within the app,' and that 'Adobe Acrobat makes it easy for anyone to create compelling visuals, no creative expertise required.' According to Adobe, the 'image editing' and 'image generation' features in Adobe Acrobat will only be available in the English version of the desktop for the time being.

Adobe also announced that the Acrobat AI Assistant now enables users to ask questions about documents, get insights and share summaries of content via email in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and text files.

Specifically, users simply drag and drop document files into the Acrobat AI Assistant to generate questions such as 'Please provide an overview of the main themes presented in these documents.' By selecting them, the AI will automatically provide answers. Users can also ask the AI their own questions. In addition, by giving instructions such as 'Summarize the main points of these documents in an email,' the generated text can be shared both within and outside the team.

In addition, it has been announced that a new feature called 'minutes creation' has been added, using audio recorded during meetings in the Acrobat AI Assistant. According to Adobe, a 'generated summary' that allows users to quickly grasp the contents of a meeting, including the main topics and important points, will be automatically created based on the minutes. This will enable meeting participants to take action smoothly.

In conjunction with the addition of Acrobat AI Assistant features, Adobe is offering free access to Acrobat AI Assistant from June 18 to June 28, 2024. At the time of writing, Acrobat AI Assistant is only available in English, and the timing of the Japanese version has not yet been decided.
