The first person to point out that unreleased game information was leaking from the unofficial database EpicDB was MondoMega, a user of the game-related forum ResetEra . At 20:48 on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 (local time), MondoMega reported, 'EpicDB has been released, revealing a lot of information that has not been made public. If you search for the publisher's name, you will find a lot of unreleased games and pages (most of which are labeled with code names).'

EpicDB included not only titles from major game publishers such as Bethesda, Sega, Square Enix, and Rockstar Games, but also unannounced titles from Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), which operates the PlayStation brand, and Microsoft. Most of the unannounced titles are listed by codename, so details are unknown, but on Reddit, attempts are underway to match codenames with specific titles.
Leaks on EpicDB have unearthed codenames for previously rumored games such as Parkside and BioShock 4. Others have suggested that 'Momo' is a remake of Final Fantasy XI, while 'Selma' is a PC port of Red Dead Redemption .
Following the report, Epic Games issued a statement to game media Wccftech and technology media The Verge saying, 'We released an update tonight that prevents third-party tools from displaying unannounced new product titles from the Epic Games Store catalog.' This means that third-party tools can no longer be used to scrape information about unannounced titles from the Epic Games Store.
