Mozilla announces Firefox update plans, with themes of 'local AI' and 'enhanced security'
Mozilla, the developer of the web browser Firefox, has announced that it will implement the most requested features in the coming year, up to 2025, based on feedback from users.

Mozilla's planned updates and improvements over the next year include:
1: Productivity-enhancing features such as tab groups, vertical tabs, and sidebars
The tab group feature allows you to manage related tabs together. The vertical tab feature arranges tabs vertically, allowing you to switch between them efficiently even when you have many open tabs. The sidebar is a convenient feature that allows you to quickly access bookmarks, history, and more. These features make it easier for users to organize their tabs, no matter how many they have open.
2. Profile management system that allows you to manage school, work, and personal browsing separately
A new profile management system allows users to manage separate profiles for school, work and personal browsing, allowing them to use different bookmarks, add-ons and settings for each, enhancing convenience while protecting their privacy.
3: Customizable new tab wallpapers for you, including photos, colors, abstract images, and more
You can customize the background of your new tab page with a photo, color, abstract image, or whatever you like. With a wide range of options, you can choose the wallpaper that best suits you.
4. Intuitive and easy-to-understand privacy settings
Mozilla says it will deliver its advanced tracking prevention technology in a simple, transparent way, making it easy for users to configure the privacy settings that are most convenient for them through intuitive controls.
5: Streamlined menus to reduce visual clutter and quickly access important actions
By reducing visual clutter in menus and prioritizing the actions users use most frequently, you can access the functionality they want more quickly.
6: AI function that generates Alt-text for images inserted in PDF files
The new feature will automatically generate Alt (alternative) text for images inserted in PDF files. This will make PDF files easier to read for people with accessibility needs, such as those with visual impairments or learning disabilities. This feature will use an AI model that runs on the local device and will be implemented from the third quarter of 2024.
Mozilla said, 'Protecting user privacy is at the core of everything we do at Firefox,' and that all AI features used for translation, PDF editing, etc. run locally on the device and do not send user personal data to company servers or use it to train AI.
