YouTube's experimental 'jump ahead' feature skips to the best parts
The 'Jump Ahead' feature combines AI with user data to allow users to see the parts they want to see.
It has been rolled out to some YouTube Premium members in the United States since around March 2024, but it has now been expanded to include all YouTube Premium members in the United States.
This is only available on Android, and when you tap the screen twice, a 'Jump Ahead' button appears, allowing you to skip over the parts that most viewers would skip.
In addition, since it is being tested as an experimental feature, the trial period will be until June 1, 2024. Also, it seems that it can only be used with some English content.
It is not yet clear whether the feature will be officially included as part of the premium service after the trial period ends or whether the testing will be extended further.
YouTube Premium allows users to try out new features currently under development, but the Japanese version of YouTube Premium does not have a beta version available at the time of writing, so Japanese users may not have the opportunity to use the Jump Ahead feature until it is incorporated into the official service.
