YouTube's paid plan will add features such as '4x speed playback' and 'short video saving function on iPhone'
On January 22, 2025, YouTube announced experimental features for its paid plan, YouTube Premium. YouTube Premium subscribers will be able to use features such as the ability to play videos at 4x speed and the ability to save YouTube Short videos on iPhone.

◆ Play videos at 4x speed
YouTube allows you to change the playback speed of videos between 0.25x and 2x, with YouTube Premium subscribers getting an even faster 4x playback speed.
◆High quality sound mode
A new mode called 'High-quality audio' has been added, allowing you to play audio at 256kbps. It is said to provide a clearer and richer audio experience.
◆Jump function
A 'jump function' will be added to the web version of YouTube. Using the jump function, you can instantly play 'parts of the video that are likely to interest users.'
◆ Temporarily save short videos on your iPhone
You can now temporarily save short videos on your iPhone. Saved short videos can be played even in offline situations such as airplane mode.
◆ Picture-in-picture playback of short videos on iPhone
On iPhone, you can now play short videos in picture-in-picture mode, so you can watch short videos on the side of your screen while using other apps besides YouTube.
Other changes announced include 'Ask Music,' which allows you to get music recommendations from AI, now available in the UK and Ireland, and ' conversational AI tools ' now compatible with iPhones.
In addition, there seems to be a lag in the launch of the features, and at the time of writing, the Japanese beta version feature list page does not include the '4x speed playback function' and 'high quality sound mode.'
