The existence of a high-tech robber who blocks Wi-Fi with a jamming device and disables security camera video recording and live streaming is confirmed.

Some commercially available security cameras have a mechanism that 'saves captured data in the cloud via wireless communication.'

Kim Commando, host of technology-related radio programs and TV shows, has reported that there are robbers who use jamming devices to disable this 'security camera equipped with wireless communication function.'

Mr. Commando almost became a victim of a robbery on February 16, 2024. At around 18:45 on the day of the incident, Mr. Commando was at home when a police helicopter flew overhead and sounded a recorded voice saying, ``This is the police.'' Additionally, a large number of SWAT members were stationed around the property.

By the time Command noticed the police and went to the backyard, SWAT members had discovered jamming devices installed around the property. The officer told Mr. Commando, ``A South American gang is robbing the area. The fact that a jamming device has been set up means your house may be a target as well,'' and asked for permission to enter the premises. Ta.

SWAT members then began a search of Mr. Komando's home, but fortunately no robbers were found. However, a house four houses away from Mr. Commando's home was robbed.

According to the testimony of the robbery victim, the victim left the residence to eat dinner around 17:00, and about 5 minutes later received a notification that ``the security camera was offline''. The victim thought it was just a problem with the internet connection, but in reality, the robber broke in while the camera was offline and stole $25,000 in cash and 100,000 yen. Valuables worth $15 million (approximately 15 million yen) were stolen.

Some security cameras store footage in the cloud via the internet, and some allow you to view footage in real time from a smartphone app. However, if the internet connection is cut off by a jamming device, there will be no record of the video and it will become impossible to check the video in real time. Mr. Command recommends the following measures based on his own experience of being a victim of a robbery using a jamming device.

・In addition to wireless security cameras, install wired security cameras for backup purposes.
・Use a security camera that can save footage to an SD card, etc.
・Install lights that detect human movement and turn on automatically
・Introducing femtocells that can strengthen mobile radio waves
・Use Alexa etc. to make it possible to reproduce lighting that looks like there are people even when you are out.
・Use a device that can simulate the channel changing behavior of humans when watching TV.
・Post stickers indicating that 'security cameras are being installed'
・Delete your home's floor plan information from real estate information sites
