How much has Logitech's top-of-the-line webcam 'MX Brio' equipped with a 4K compatible large sensor and 3D noise reduction evolved? I compared it with 'Brio C1000s'

The first 4K compatible webcam ' MX Brio ' from Logitech's flagship device brand 'MX series' for PC power users was released on March 22, 2024. I checked how much the MX Brio has evolved by comparing it with the 4K compatible camera '

Brio C1000s ' released by Logitech in the past.

You can understand what MX Brio looks like and how to connect and configure it with a PC by reading the article below.

The one on the left is the MX Brio, and the one on the right is the Brio C1000s borrowed from Logitech for comparison. The front size of the MX Brio is larger than the Brio 1000s, and the lens part with a privacy shutter stands out.

I tried attaching MX Brio to the top of my PC monitor. The adhesive part sticks to the back of the monitor, and the claw on the front of the clip catches the front of the monitor, making it very secure. The MX Brio weighs about 175g and is quite heavy, but it never fell off due to the weight while I was using it.

I tried attaching Brio C1000s to a monitor. The model I borrowed this time had a foldable mounting clip, but it gave the impression that it stuck out further back than the MX Brio's mounting clip.

I compared the two models from the front with the two models mounted on top of the monitor. The MX Brio has a subdued metal design that won't stand out from the rest of the room, but compared to the Brio C1000s, the huge lens part stands out and has a strong presence, and the Brio has a sense of unity with the monitor. I felt that C1000s was better. However, while the Brio C1000s cannot rotate the camera left and right, the MX Brio has a built-in magnet in the fixing part with the mounting clip, so the big point is that the webcam can be rotated left and right.

You can check the comparison of images shot with MX Brio and Brio C1000s in the movie below. The MX Brio has a larger sensor than the Brio C1000s, resulting in a relatively bright image. In addition, the MX Brio is equipped with a dual beam forming microphone, which gives the impression that it picks up voices more clearly than the images shot with the Brio C1000s.

The following photos were taken using both cameras under dark lighting conditions with most of the lights in the room turned off. As you can see from the comparison, MX Brio is brighter than Brio C1000s. MX Brio is also equipped with an AI-based image enhancement function, and you can clearly see that the saturation of the skin on the hands and neck has increased.

MX Brio also has an additional range of motion that allows it to move back and forth to the mounting clip that serves as the mount. Therefore, you can easily take a picture of your hand by simply tilting the camera toward you without removing the camera body.

The following movie actually shows the hand at hand with MX Brio. MX Brio is equipped with a function called 'Show Mode' that automatically reverses the image when you take a picture of yourself. I found it extremely convenient that I didn't have to take the trouble to remove the webcam and adjust it when I needed to take a picture of myself.

After actually using it, I found that the MX Brio can project brighter and clearer images than the Brio C1000s, and can record clearer audio with 3D noise reduction. When holding an online meeting for work, the webcam image often becomes dark in a dark room with no windows, but with MX Brio, the image is bright even in a dark room, so you don't have to worry about lighting conditions. I felt that it was a web camera that was easy to use. In addition, Show Mode, which automatically flips your hand to show it in the forward direction, can also be used when showing documents at hand during an online meeting, or when showing the operation of a gadget or controller at hand during a broadcast.

However, the MX Brio is very large and conspicuous, so some people may feel uncomfortable if it is permanently placed on the monitor. The mounting clip and camera body are fixed with a magnet, so when not in use, you can quickly remove it from the clip and put the camera body away. It also supports tripod screws, so you can attach it to your own camera mount or tripod.
