I tried the classic canelé specialty brand ``Canelaine'', which has a chewy texture and sweetness.
Cannelaine, a canelé specialty brand produced by Maison Landemaine, a patisserie with 19 stores in France and 3 stores in Japan, is opening a limited-time store at

I came to Tokyo Gift Palette.
'Canelaine' is the canelé specialty brand of Maison Landemenne, a boulangerie and patisserie with stores in Paris and Tokyo.
There were multiple types of canelé, and three packages were prepared with five types selected from among them. This time I bought 'Classique' which is said to be the most classic selection of canelés.
The box looks like this.
The classic set includes 5 items: ``Salted Caramel,'' ``Uji Matcha,'' ``Earl Grey,'' ``Café Espresso,'' and ``Natural.''
When lined up, it looks like this. These bite-sized canelés have a very cute appearance.
'Salted Caramel' feels like the bitterness of the homemade caramel sauce enhances the overall sweetness. The salty taste is quite subtle, so even people who don't like salty caramel flavors should be able to eat it. The texture is chewy, but if you bake it in a toaster, you can enjoy a crispy texture that is almost like freshly baked.
``Uji Matcha'' is an elegant canelé with a fluffy aroma, rather than the bitterness that is common with matcha.
``Earl Gray'' has a sweet taste with a faint black tea flavor. It has a very mild flavor, and even if it has a bit more of a black tea feel, it's okay.
``Café Espresso'' has a very distinct coffee aroma, and with just this one you can feel as if you were ``eating a canelé while drinking coffee.'' The taste is 'bittersweet', so the sweetness is emphasized just the right amount.
``Nature'' is the most popular canelaine, made with vanilla and Jamaican rum. I got the impression that the lamb was just a flavoring, not strong, and you could enjoy the rich sweetness.
In addition to these five types, there are also ``chocolat'' and ``apple caramel.''
If you don't want to eat it the same day, you can freeze it. When defrosting, wrap it in plastic wrap and warm it to make it chewy, or heat it in a toaster to make it crispy.
Canelaine's Tokyo Gift Palette store will be open for a limited time until February 14, 2024 (Wednesday).
