iTunes finally dismantled, functions divided into three apps - GIGAZINE
For Windows, three apps, ``Apple Music'', ``Apple TV'', and ``Apple Devices'', were released as preview versions in January 2023 via the Microsoft Store.
'Apple Music' is an app that allows you to listen to and manage music from your iTunes library, including Apple Music , Apple's streaming service, and purchases from the iTunes Store.
Apple TV allows you to watch movies and TV purchased on iTunes, as well as access Apple TV+.
'Apple Devices' allows you to update, back up, and restore Apple devices such as iPhones and iPads on a Windows PC. It is also possible to sync content from your PC.
The three apps 'Apple Music,' 'Apple TV,' and 'Apple Devices' require Windows 10 build 16299 or later, and you need to install all three apps to completely migrate from iTunes.
However, even if the three apps are officially released, iTunes will not be completely exempted from its role, and iTunes is being distributed at the Microsoft Store at the time of article creation. iTunes is required to access podcasts and audiobooks, so even though iTunes has been dismantled, distribution of iTunes for Windows will continue for the time being. Additionally, users who have not upgraded to Windows 10 or later can continue to use iTunes.
