A long-established sports media publishes an article about an AI writer who pretended to be a human with an AI-generated face photo

The performance of AI is improving day by day, and there are cases where

major media outlets have introduced text generation AI to create articles . It has recently been revealed that Sports Illustrated, a major sports-related media outlet, has been publishing AI-generated articles that appear to be created by humans. Sports Illustrated deleted the AI-generated article after the existence of the article was reported.

Below is an example of an AI-generated article published in Sports Illustrated. The content of the article is ``Introducing recommended balls for volleyball beginners,'' but ``It may be difficult to start playing volleyball without an actual ball to practice with,'' and ``To start playing volleyball, you need a dedicated practice space.'' It contains sentences that feel strange, such as 'I need a full-sized ball.'

The author introduction page for the above article is below. The author's name is Drew Ortiz, and he is described as someone who is knowledgeable about outdoor activities.

However, the overseas media Futurism discovered that the face photo used on the introduction page is being sold on the AI-generated image sales site '

Generated Photos '. Because the face photo was an AI-generated image and the text of the published article was incoherent, Futurism concluded that ``An outdoor enthusiast named Drew Ortiz does not actually exist, and that Sports Illustrated was an AI-generated image.'' The article was falsely published as being written by a human.'

Furthermore, when Futurism re-checked the article after discovering the article in question, it was discovered that the author had been replaced from Drew Ortiz to Sora Tanaka. Sora Tanaka's introduction page has an introduction that looks like a real person, just like Drew Ortiz.

However, Sora Tanaka's face photo was also sold at Generated Photos.

At the time of writing, Sports Illustrated had deleted the article and the author's introduction page. Additionally, after Futurism reported on the above issue, Sports Illustrated issued a statement saying, ``The article was created by our partner company AdVon Commerce,'' and ``AdVon Commerce guarantees that the article is human-authored.'' However, we have identified an issue and have removed the related content.'

Futurism says, ``We do not know whether Sports Illustrated was aware that the articles were based on AI, but these AI contents indicate the downfall of Sports Illustrated, which has won numerous awards.''
