Approximately 75 autonomous delivery robots from Starship Technologies have been installed at Oregon State University.
The university issued a warning around noon after receiving a threat that the robots would be blown up. ``Bomb threat on Starship food delivery robot. Do not open the robot. Please avoid all robots until further notice. Public safety is responding,'' the message reads, and do not approach the robot. I appealed to students and staff to do so.

Within one hour of the alert, all robots were isolated to a secure location and examined by technicians. Afterwards, it was confirmed that there were no problems, and the alert was lifted after about 1 hour and 20 minutes. The university's public safety department later announced that ``a person believed to have been involved in the disturbance has been arrested.''
According to Starship Technology, this bomb threat turned out to be a prank by a student. After the incident, the company said, ``A student at Oregon State University posted a bomb threat on social media using a Starship robot on campus. The student later said, ``I was joking,'' but Starship continued to discontinue its service. Safety is of the utmost importance to Starship, and we will work with law enforcement and the university to investigate this matter.'
