Inverse:
Takashi Tezuka, the producer of 'Super Mario Bros. Wonder,' said in an interview before the game's release that the game was not developed with deadlines in mind until quite late in the development process. In an industry known for its punctual deadlines, what kind of impact do you think the development team's approach without being conscious of deadlines had on the work?

President Doug Bowser (hereinafter referred to as Bowser):
I'm always careful not to comment on the developer side, but Tezuka pointed out that in general, 'at the very early stages of the development cycle, you want your team to be free to explore different ideas.' That's what it means. This resulted in a lot of unique and creative ideas for the development team to think about without the pressure of deadlines or 'how do we make this happen?'

One thing you can say about Nintendo's development is that they don't put pressure on their teams to deliver within a certain deadline. If you need more time, take more time. The reason is that players expect the quality of our games. We respect that and want to deliver excitement.

Inverse:
``Super Mario Bros. Wonder'' is the first 2D platformer in over 10 years and has received wide acclaim. This kind of back-to-roots approach was successful with Metroid Dredd , but is Nintendo considering a similar approach for a series like The Legend of Zelda?

Bowser:
I think the important thing is to give the development team the opportunity to fully understand what they want to create and the kind of game they want to create. Whether it's reinventing a classic game or taking it in an entirely new direction, we make sure to give our development teams plenty of latitude in deciding where they want to go with future game development. I am.

As Nintendo prepares for the Nintendo Museum , how will Nintendo focus on preserving history and games for audiences around the world?

Bowser:
We see ourselves as an entertainment company, not just a video game company. Video games are at the core of our entire business model, but in 2023 alone we will see the opening of Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios in Hollywood, the release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie , and more. There were successes and so on. Through these efforts, we want to engage with players in a variety of ways outside of video games, and we want them to continue to feel familiar with our characters and world, and the Nintendo Museum is part of that effort.

We offer our games to our fans through Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions and add-on packs. This is another way of getting our fans interested in our nostalgic content that they may remember from when they first started playing video games.

A leak in the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) v. Microsoft case reveals that Microsoft was considering acquiring Nintendo. Please give us your thoughts on how this growing trend of acquisitions has affected the industry, and how it will ripple into the future.

Bowser:
We have a great relationship with Microsoft. We consider them a partner in many ways, and you can see that partnership with Nintendo Switch. For example, Minecraft has been released on Nintendo Switch, and Banjo-Kazooie has also appeared in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate . So I look forward to continuing this partnership.

I've been in the game industry for 16 years now, and one thing I can consistently say about the consolidation movement of game companies is the acquisition of studios. On the other hand, some things remain the same. It's the fact that new studios are born every year. As consolidation continues, new studios are emerging as well, which speaks to the dynamic nature of the industry as a whole. Ultimately, this is a good trend for players.

Inverse:
The Nintendo Switch has an extremely long lifespan as a game console. Other game consoles on the market continue to strive for graphical fidelity, but as technology improves, that pursuit becomes less fruitful. Do you think Nintendo's method of having a more distinctive art style is a better approach as it becomes impossible to improve graphics?

Bowser:
Nintendo often says, ``What matters most to us is not what's inside your machine or device, but what happens on the screen when you grab the controller and start playing the game. Does it draw you into the world of the game? Immersion.'' Is there one?” To do this, you can choose from a variety of art styles, whether realistic or cartoonish.

Beyond the clear visual differentiation due to

form factor , the Nintendo Switch has a variety of styles across the board, which I believe has led to its differentiation and longevity. What I want to say here is that consumers are supporting the Nintendo Switch, and thanks to them, 15 million units are expected to be sold in 2023 alone, and this is due to the wide variety of content that attracts players and this This is a result of keeping them on the platform.

Inverse:
There was a report that Nintendo privately unveiled a successor to the Nintendo Switch at the game trade show Gamescom. When thinking about a successor to Nintendo Switch, we are working to help users transition to the next platform while reassuring them that the content they purchase on Nintendo Switch and the investments they make in Nintendo Switch will somehow carry over to the next generation. What do you think about it?

Bowser:
First of all, I cannot and will not comment on the speculations that are out there. However, one of the things we are doing on Nintendo Switch to support that communication and transition is opening a Nintendo Account. Previously, we had to introduce a completely new account system for each device we migrated to, but by creating a Nintendo Account, we can now communicate with players as they migrate to a new platform, and learn more about the process. The transition will be smooth.

Our goal is to minimize the dips often seen at the end of one cycle and the beginning of the next. While we can't speak to possible features on the new platform, Nintendo Accounts are a strong foundation for communication as we transition.

Inverse:
Is there any Nintendo software that hasn't been revived for a while that you'd like to see revived?

Bowser:
I can't think of a specific series that I'd like to see a comeback, but there are some that I love. It is ' Mario & Luigi RPG 3!!! (English title: Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story)'. It would be nice if Bowser (English name: Bowser) could also be given a little love.
