The confidential documents in question were uploaded to the cloud and a link was shared on the website of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California on September 14, 2023. However, Cloud Link was left open to the public. Although the confidential documents were basically edited, some unedited PDF files were also attached, and a large amount of confidential information about the Xbox plan was included in them.

Judge Jacqueline Scott Coley of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California acknowledged the authenticity of the confidential document files and ruled that they were not intended to be shared publicly on September 19, 2023. It ordered them to 'make appropriate edits to their submissions and provide a secure cloud link' by September 22.

This confidential document reveals Microsoft's plans to release a cylindrical Xbox Series X in 2024. Microsoft called this new Xbox Series X by the code name 'Brooklin'.

Brooklin is a diskless model that eliminates the optical disk drive, and the built-in storage is 2TB. In addition to miniaturizing the chipset to a 6nm process to improve power efficiency, it supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2, and the I/O has also been updated to include a PD-compatible USB-C port on the front. PSU power is reduced by 15%, and the new standby mode available in Brooklyn will reduce power consumption by 20% compared to the current Xbox Series X standby mode. The release is scheduled for the end of 2024, and the price is targeted at $ 499 (about 73,700 yen), the same as the current Xbox Series X.

Furthermore, Microsoft is planning a new model of the lower-end Xbox Series S, codenamed 'Ellewood.' Ellewood with 1TB of built-in storage is scheduled to be released in September 2024 for $ 299 (about 44,000 yen).

And, the Brooklyn controller will be updated from the conventional Xbox Series X controller. This new controller is codenamed 'Sebile' and is scheduled to be released in early 2024 for $ 69.99 (about 10,300 yen). Sebile has a built-in accelerometer, which allows gyro operation, and the main feature is that you can start the game console just by lifting the controller. It also features VCA haptics, which provide high-precision haptic feedback and double as a speaker. The buttons are now quieter, the rechargeable battery is replaceable, and the analog stick is modular.

A document called ``Roadmap to 2030,'' created in May 2022, suggests that a series of strategies will revolve around controllers, with Microsoft stating that ``required to play on all devices.'' It's just the new Xbox controller.'

The schedule was to release the new controller Sebile in June 2024, and to announce Ellewood and Brooklyn at an event held immediately after. It seems that Ellewood was scheduled to be released in August-September 2024, and Brooklyn in October-November of the same year.

The new Xbox Series

Additionally, Microsoft said in the document: 'Our vision is to leverage the collective power of our clients and cloud to develop a next-generation hybrid gaming platform that can deliver deeper immersion and a whole new class of gaming experiences.' He proposes a new form of game called ``Cohesive Hybrid Compute.''

Along with this, it has been proposed that the next generation Xbox following Xbox Series X/S will be equipped with Zen 6 CPU cores in partnership with AMD by the first quarter of 2023. Furthermore, Microsoft seems to think that by installing an NPU for machine learning, it will be necessary to perform super resolution, delay correction, and frame rate interpolation.

The document also stated the roadmap, ``Hardware design will begin in 2024, the first development kit will be completed in 2027, and hybrid cloud games will be developed from 2024 to 2026.'' The series of plans seems to have been born out of a meeting between Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and Xbox chief Phil Spencer, and Nadella said, ``We have two plans: ``1: Everything in the cloud'' and ``2: Hybrid Xbox. ``We are developing four types of computers: ``3: Hybrid Windows'' and ``4: Hybrid HoloLens.''
