All you need to complete the project is 'effort' and 'courage'

It's not uncommon to start a project and never finish it. About this, 'Don't be afraid of the remaining 10%,' developer Aaron Francis, who has worked on numerous projects, shows a guide to completing the project.

A project that seemed like endless possibilities at first, but by the time the end was in sight, it started to feel like just another job. It's a common story that only unfinished projects pile up as a result of repeating new ideas and new projects. Rather, it can be said that the project has just started. However, it is also true that there are fewer people who have led the project to the goal.

Mr. Francis has two themes in this regard: ``Finishing requires ``labour'' and ``Finishing requires ``courage''.

・ 'Effort' to finish
Normally, when starting a project, there is a core of ``I want to solve this kind of thing'' and ``I want to express this kind of thing''. Thinking about the core of a project can be a lot of fun, but when it comes to making it happen, there are things you don't want to do.

Francis said, ``There is no way around this ``doing you don't want to do,'' and as a first step, you need to understand that ``some unpleasant work is required to complete the project.'' I said yes. The last 10% progress can be as long as the previous 90%, because 'it's not fun to the end'.

Mr. Francis also doesn't have any tricks that can be generalized. The method is mentioned.

Francis's view is that there are no shortcuts in the final part of the project, it's just 'to move your hands'. Jerry Seinfeld, a popular comedian, said that he showed the word 'JUST WORK' when visiting a class of aspiring comedians.

However, Mr. Francis said, ``There is no shortcut, but there is an optimum method,'' and said that he should create a method that will give him even a little advantage. For Francis, for reasons unknown, he likes to keep repeating one song, sometimes for days on end. Also, it seems that there are times when sticky notes on which the tasks to be done are written are pasted on the PC monitor. Still, it doesn't mean that the whole day is going well, and there are times when an hour and a half spent quietly is better than the rest of the day.

・'Courage' to finish
'Completing a project' also means evaluating the project and yourself. For this reason, you may end up fiddling around with unimportant parts or spending time on new ideas.

Mr. Francis preaches that releasing the project is 'responsible to myself in the past and the future.' Because time spent on a project is time that could have been spent on something else, and you have to respect your work and sacrifice. And to avoid telling yourself 'I'm the type of person who doesn't release' by not releasing the project.

Francis said that while there will certainly be people who will criticize you for releasing your project, ten times as many people will appreciate your courage in releasing it.
