On January 23, 2023, Apple released `` iOS 12.5.7 '' for older models that are not supported by the latest OS, such as iPhone 5s and iPhone 6. iOS 12.5.7 includes fixes for vulnerabilities that may have already been exploited.
About the security content of iOS 12.5.7 - Apple Support (UK)
The newly released iOS 12.5.7 includes a fix for a vulnerability that 'accessing malicious web content may allow arbitrary code to be executed'. This vulnerability exists in iOS 15.1 and earlier, but older iPhones such as iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 do not offer 'iOS 13' or later OS. Apple's release of iOS 12.5.7 can be seen as a relief for users with older iPhones.
The devices affected by the above vulnerabilities are:
・iPhone 5s
・iPhone 6
・iPhone 6 Plus
・iPad Air
・iPad mini 2
・iPad mini 3
・iPod touch (6th generation)
When I checked the software update on the iPhone 5s actually in the editorial department, it was possible to install iOS 12.5.7.
According to Apple, attacks that may have exploited the above vulnerabilities have already been confirmed. If you own a model that is subject to the update, we recommend that you apply the update as soon as possible.
