One Hacker News user who is stuck in the airport due to a canceled connecting flight said, ``Southwest Airlines' phone calls are not working at all, and online chat is not available.'' He also said, ``This situation is due to Southwest Airlines' mismanagement,'' and demands that Southwest Airlines executives take responsibility.
Southwest Airlines spokesman Chris Perry said ``record cold weather and lack of crew schedule control'' are contributing to the large number of cancellations.
'For a large airline like Southwest Airlines, staffing and scheduling after a flight canceled due to bad weather is a very complex task,' said Kyle Potter, editor-in-chief of travel news site Thrifty Traveler . On the other hand, he points out that 'it's really bad for Southwest Airlines' that many flights were canceled on December 26, despite the clear weather in many areas.
``Southwest Airlines continues to restore operations and expects to operate approximately one-third of its scheduled flights over the next few days,'' Southwest Airlines said in a statement on December 26.
