The incident started on December 5, 2022, in an article by Forbes, an economic newspaper, ` `Elon Mask prepared a nap room for employees at Twitter headquarters .'' Forbes reports, citing two sources, that one of the conference rooms at Twitter's depopulated San Francisco headquarters has been turned into a nap room made out of crude mattresses and curtains. This nap room is believed to have been set up for his employees by Mr. Musk, who asked his employees to embrace a hardcore workplace . One of the sources said, ``There were signs of neglecting us again. The bed just appeared without any discussion,'' and complained about the nap room that suddenly appeared. In addition, it is said that there are about 4 to 8 nap rooms per floor.
A Twitter account that received this report mentioned SF311 , a customer service center in San Francisco, and asked, ``Do you know who should check this?'' SF311 said, ``Thank you for contacting us. This issue has been reported to the Building Inspectorate. Your post is listed in an existing service request number: 16152343.' I made it clear that
Thank you for your inquiry. This issue has been reported to Department of Building Inspection. Your posting has been noted on existing Service Request Number: 16152343. ^SL

Also, a former Twitter employee said in an interview with the BBC that ``Mr. Mask regularly sleeps at Twitter headquarters'' since Mr. Mask acquired Twitter. In addition, BBC reporter James Clayton posted a photo on Twitter saying that he got a photo of a nap room that was independently set up at Twitter headquarters.

The San Francisco Chronicle, a local media outlet in San Francisco, also reported, ``The San Francisco Building Inspection Bureau is seeking an inspection of Twitter headquarters at 1335 Market Street for legal violations.'' The San Francisco Chronicle said, ``While our independent investigation was unable to confirm that a nap room was installed at Twitter headquarters, San Francisco records indicate that a petition has been filed to convert part of Twitter headquarters to residential use. It was not done.'
In addition, Mr. Mask received an investigation from the San Francisco Building Inspection Bureau, saying, `` San Francisco will attack companies that provide beds for tired employees instead of confirming the dangers of children ingesting fentanyl . What is the priority of Mayor of London Breed!?' and admits that there is a nap room in the company.
So city of SF attacks companies providing beds for tired employees instead of making sure kids are safe from fentanyl. Where are your priorities @LondonBreed !? https://t.co/M7QJWP7u0N

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the San Francisco Building Inspectorate is asking for an inspection at Twitter's headquarters for possible violations of Twitter's building codes, and asking building managers for more information.
'We investigate all complaints, so we need to make sure that Twitter HQ is being used as intended,' said Patrick Hannan, a spokesperson for San Francisco's Building Inspection Department. Residential buildings, including those used for short-term stays, have requirements in various building codes that are designed to ensure that people are using the space safely. It's something,' he said. If a building code violation is found, a notice of violation will be issued.
The building that houses Twitter's headquarters is owned by two companies: JPMorgan Chase and Shorenstein. Twitter's rental agreement with Shorenstein in 2011 has been submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, and when checked, Twitter subleased as a facility for providing social, welfare, or clinical services. If you do, it says that you can reasonably withhold your consent. However, it seems that the rental agreement does not state whether Twitter can operate the headquarters as an accommodation facility.
In November 2022, Twitter's product management director, Esther Crawford, took a picture of her in a sleeping bag and wearing an eye mask, and posted on Twitter, ``I spent the night in San Francisco on Twitter. I was at the headquarters, I will stay here and work until I correct the organization, 'he tweeted. However, this tweet has been deleted at the time of article creation.
