The median file size per website page exceeded 2MB



HTTP Archive, which archives metadata from a huge number of websites and conducts statistical surveys, has revealed the actual situation of websites as of July 2022.

HTTP Archive analyzed 7,303,959 URLs for desktop and 10,328,202 for mobile. As of July 2022, the median file size of each site in terms of transfer volume is 2314.4 KB (about 2.26 MB) for desktop and 2040.4 KB (about 1.99 MB) for mobile. The file size is increasing year by year, and in March 2020, the desktop version exceeded 2MB for the first time.



The number of resource requests is 75 for desktop and 69 for mobile. These numbers are trending sideways.



The proportion of sites using HTTPS is 94.0% for desktop and 92.8% for mobile.



The percentage of at least one vulnerable JavaScript code was 56.5% for desktop and 56.1% for mobile. Tracking and data collection by JavaScript has long been a problem, and various organizations are taking measures, such as the

Free Software Foundation announcing a browser extension that reduces the risk of malware that exploits JavaScript in 2021. Although it has decreased from the peak level of nearly 80%, you can see that there are still many dangerous sites.
