A YouTuber who created a laser sighting type ``knife throwing machine'' in 100 shots appeared

Many people have longed for the appearance of a hero in a Hollywood movie showing off a splendid knife throw. A self-made movie that allows you to throw a knife that is as accurate as a master who appears in a movie is released on YouTube.

Knife Throwing Machine!-YouTube

Quint, an engineer of YouTube channel Quint BUILDs , created the knife throwing machine this time.

Mr. Quint, who devoted himself to martial arts when he was a student, was inspired to make this knife throwing machine when he saw the movie '

Silence Battleship '.

Mr. Quint said that his legs were shaking when he saw Casey Ryback, a Navy SEAL played by Mr. Steven Seagal, showing off a brilliant knife technique and a hundred-hundred-throwing knife in the play.

However, when I actually tried knife throwing, I found that it was a difficult task to rotate the knife properly in the air and hit the target.

Quint, who decided to make a knife throwing machine, said, ``It is possible to continuously throw 10 knives from various distances.'' ``It is portable without the need to connect to a power supply with a cable.'' We started designing with three goals in mind: to be as light as possible.

The basic concept is to move the belt with a high-performance servo motor and throw the knife. Using two motors not only doubles the output, but by making one of them slightly faster, you can add spin to the knife.

This is exactly the same principle as Taketombo.

An electromagnet is used for the mechanism that holds the knife.

During development, there was also a scene where the momentum was too strong, and the part that throws the knife shattered, causing it to scatter like a shotgun.

Mr. Quint's 13-year-old son was in charge of creating a program that controlled the timing of throwing the knife.

On the software side, Mr. Quint said that it was only a calculation of what kind of rotation the knife would make one and a quarter rotation in the air and pierce the target.

In addition, Quint added a LiDAR sensor to the machine and added the ability to change the speed of throwing the knife according to the distance.

The completed knife throwing machine is so accurate that it can throw 10 knives exactly where the laser pointer hits.

The response to changes in distance is also perfect.

Mr. Quint commented on completing the throwing knife machine, ``Not only was it a great educational experience for children, but it also solved my 20-year-old thoughts about throwing knives.'' I commented.
