'Katsugeki Touken Ranbu' was announced at AnimeJapan 2016 held in March 2016 as an animated work of the game 'Touken Ranbu -ONLINE-' together with 'Touken Ranbu -Hanamaru-'. Initially it was 'Touken Ranbu (tentative)', and in December 2016 it became clear that the official title was 'Lively Touken Ranbu'.
