Blender has a physics-based rendering engine 'Cycles', but since Cycles is a 10-year mono engine released in 2011, it will be rewritten in Blender 3.0 and reborn as 'Cycles X'. ..
With this engine update, OpenCL support for rendering on AMD GPUs has been removed for technical and performance reasons.
As an alternative, Blender and AMD will work closely together to improve GPU rendering using AMD's HIP API, making full Cycles X extensions available to AMD users.
'HIP' stands for 'Heterogeneous-computing Interface for Portability' and is a C ++ runtime API and kernel language that allows developers to create portable apps for AMD and NVIDIA GPUs from a single source code. The code with HIP support is already available in 3.0 beta.
