'Our mission is to promote policies that promote American semiconductor manufacturing and research, and to strengthen America's economy, national security, and critical infrastructure,' SIAC said in a statement.
SIAC's first goal is to secure funding under the Creating Helpful Incentives to Produce Semiconductors (CHIPS) for America Act.
The CHIPS for America Act is a law aimed at investment tax credits, financial assistance, human resource development and supply chain support for American semiconductor companies. It was submitted in June 2020 and enacted in the Defense Authorization Law for the 2021 fiscal year. I did. SIAC describes the CHIPS for America Act as 'to allocate $ 50 billion to incentives and research initiatives for chip manufacturing in the United States.'
SIAC has 65 members including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Apple, Google, Microsoft, AMD, IBM, Intel, Qualcomm, NVIDIA, Arm, Samsung, TSMC, SK Hynix, Western Digital and Micron.
