Moricone was born in Rome in 1928. My father, Mario, was a professional trumpet player who had joined a light music orchestra, where he learned the basics of music from his father and made his first song at the age of six.

After graduating from Santa Cecilia National Accademia in 1946, he started his career as a composer and became popular as a composer of BGM for radio dramas in the 1950s. Meanwhile, he started his career as a composer of film music in the 1950s. Initially in the form of a ghost writer, he started to form a combination with director Sergio Leone, who was an alumni of elementary school, and 'The Wilderness Bouncer', which was released in 1964, and the macaroni western boom prevailed. 'Once upon a time in America' released in 1984, which he worked on in combination with Leone, was the best work that Moricone thinks.

Also active in Hollywood since the 1980s. Won the Grammy Award for 'Untouchable' directed by Brian De Palma in 1987. The music in the play of 'New Cinema Paradise' directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, released in 1989, has become one of the most well-known music in Morricone.
