The state of the sunken ship 170 years ago is on YouTube

John Franklin , a British naval officer and Arctic explorer, died in 1845 with 130 crew members during the expedition. After that, the whereabouts of the ship remained unknown, but because the Inuit and the 'sunk ship' were handed down, researchers of modern Inuit conducted a deep sea investigation. As a result, a well-preserved sunken ship that was just sunk was discovered.

Two vessels, HMS Erebus and HMS Teller , disappeared in 1845. Later, 170 years after the sinking, HMS Erebus was discovered in 2014, and HMS Teller in 2016.

The investigation of the sunken ship was conducted by the Canadian government agency

Parks Canada 's research team and the Inuit Heritage Trust . There was also advice from the Franklin Interim Advisory Committee.

Research team early August 2019, over a period of several weeks

King William Island offshore investigated using 3D mapping technology, has identified the sinking location of the ship.

A boat is used to identify the sinking location and the investigator dive into the sea. This place is managed by Canada and cannot be accessed without the permission of the government, so the Inuit research team has not been able to handle it so far.

The ship was in very good condition in cold water.

The interior of the ship was investigated using a remotely controlled device. One of the investigators will put the device equipped with the camera into the ship from the upper deck.

Many were covered with silt and there were sea creatures, but the desk is in a state where the drawer is closed, and if the investigation progresses, it seems that there is a possibility that nautical materials can be found from the drawer .

The research team plans to analyze the results of the survey over the next few months.
