Huawei founder's daughter arrested in Canada, the US government requested delivery for alleged violation of sanctions against Iran

Mr. Meng Yongbo, CFO (Chief Financial Officer), the daughter of the founder of Huawei (Huawei Huawei Technology), a major telecommunications equipment company in China, was arrested in Vancouver, Canada. The alleged violation of sanctions against Iran, the US government seeking delivery of Mr. Meng to Canada.

Mr. Meng is one of the Vice Chairman of Huawei's Board of Directors, the daughter of Mr. Nobushige who is the founder of the company. U.S. authorities have been conducting investigations as if the company was exporting products in violation of the embargo on Iran. Mr. Meng was arrested on December 1st and it is said that court interrogation is planned on the 7th.

About this arrest, the Canadian Justice Department's Ian McLeod's spokesperson states that the details can not be revealed because the court issued a ban report after receiving Mr. Meng's offer.

The US government considers Huawei to be a security threat and has taken steps to restrict the activities of Huawei both at home and abroad.

The US government has regarded Huawei as a threat to national security and has restricted its activities. Mr. Mr. Mr. was arrested as he tried to persuade not only the United States but overseas allies to take similar measures.

Mr. Meng was arrested at the time he was about to change plane in Canada. Huawei announced the statement, "We have limited information on this subject and we do not recognize Mr. Meng's criminal acts." It also states that the company conducts business activities in accordance with all laws and regulations including embargoing measures.

The Chinese embassy in Canada strongly protests that Mr. Meng's arrests are not against the laws of Canada and the United States and is calling for immediate release.
