One of the users who actually suffered hacking "suddenly logged out of Instagram. Then after trying login, all profiles have been deleted, handle name, profile image, contact information etc. are changed I was talking about the damage situation at the time.

Users suffering from such hacking have reached hundreds of accounts at the time of article creation. Commonly in damaged accounts, images of Disney or Pixar characters were set as profile images, and the registered e-mail address was changed to that of the Russian domain (.ru). The following is a screenshot taken when a user actually hacked attempted to reset a password. Looking at this image, you can see that the password initialization mail is sent to the Russian domain.

Accounts that were damaged included accounts that set up two-factor authentication, and it became clear that user accounts that set higher security than ID / password authentication were also damaged.

Since the hacking method is not clarified at the time of article creation, it can not take measures, so it is expected that there is a high possibility that the damage will expand in the future. For this reason, Instagram has released a recovery process that can take necessary measures according to the contents of damage, such as "Reset password by blocking access to account" for hacked users.
