"Space Battleship Yamato 2202 Ai no Senshi" is a sequel to the "Space Battleship Yamato 2199" which was screened in theaters from 2012 to 2014 and later televised. As for 2199, the video condensed to 4 minutes is released on YouTube.

As the 2199 was a remake of "Space Battleship Yamato", this work has become a remake which is a combination of the movie "Farewell Space Battleship Yamato Ai no Senshi" and TV animation "Space Battleship Yamato 2".

TV broadcasting is decided to start from October 5, 2018 (Friday). It is broadcast from TV every Friday from 23:23 on TV Tokyo, from 27:10 every Friday in TV Osaka, and every Friday from 27:5 on TV Aichi.

Screening of theaters is over until the fifth chapter "Purgatory Hen" and the screening of Chapter 6 "Regenerative Hen" starts from November 2, 2018 (Fri). As in television broadcasting of "Space Battleship Yamato 2199" , the seventh chapter screening and the completion of TV animation broadcasting will be overlapped.
