The drone used by Amazon is this. It flew with four propellers arranged around the fuselage, and it has a structure with a box that pays goods at the bottom of the fuselage in the center. Amazon will continue the delivery experiment using this aircraft, and it is planned to further expand the scale in the future.

Amazon's Jeff Bezos also tweets about starting this experiment.

A movie showing the actual experimental situation is also released.

This experiment was started on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. We take it from takeoff to delivery, returning completely automatically. The time it takes to deliver is just 13 minutes after actually spoiling Amazon's button.

This experiment was conducted in the suburbs of Cambridge, England, with the permission of drone delivery.

Mr. Richard who lives there is an orderer. Using a tablet ......

Popping for Amazon's FireTV. It seems that they also ordered popcorn together.

Richard's order will arrive at the Amazon facility built in the area.

With such a feeling, when an order comes in ... ...

Picker collects goods and starts packing. It seems that people's hands are still being used here.

Pack FireTV and popcorn in a special box ......

Take the belt conveyor and go to the drone.

And store the goods right under the drone. The weight of items that can be delivered corresponds to a maximum of 5 pounds (about 2.27 kg).

The shutter is opened ......

Drone takes off standby.

Amazon staff clicks on the PC screen ......

Drone took off. It seems that this image is not a production for promotion, but a state of actual delivery.

Amazon's drone flying towards Richard's house ahead. It is equipped with a mechanism to fly fully automatically using GPS, and the pilot using the installed camera is not done.

"Oh, have you come soon?" Richard said.

It seems to decide a landing point with a marker placed in the garden as a landmark.

Drone lands beyond the tree in the garden ... ...

I lowered the box of goods from the containment vessel.

It can be seen in real time at the Amazon base.

The drone who unloaded the commodity takes off again and arrives on the way back to the base.

Mr. Richard heads to pick up products.

I was able to get FireTV and popcorn safely. It took 13 minutes from the click, which took so far.

And Drone returns to Amazon's base.

Amazon says that initiating efforts aiming at delivery within 30 minutes from ordering by making Prime Air full-scale operation. At the start, we will conduct experiments targeting two houses, but after several months we plan to expand the scale and proceed with the experiment. It is also believed that much time will be spent before this service is put to practical use all over the world, but finally delivery using drone has begun to become a reality.
