NTT DoCoMo launches software to decode H.265 (HEVC) format compressed video from mid-March

HEVC stands for "High Efficiency Video Coding" and was approved as international standard (H.265 and 23008-2) on January 25, 2013. This standard is a next-generation standard in the MPEG-4 AVC (Advanced Video Coding) format used in video equipment, mobile equipment, etc. Compress the data amount to half with the same quality as the MPEG-4 AVC format It will be possible.

This time, NTT DoCoMo offers software that decodes moving images compressed with HEVC so that they can be played on mobile devices and PC video players. Similarly in the case of PC, it supports real-time playback of 4K movies.
