◆ 10th anniversary impression
Hyper Hobby:
Please give me a frank impression of the 10th anniversary.

Hot Toys representative Howard Chan (Howard):
As a comment on the 10th anniversary, I am very happy. It's just the first time, so I'm pretty busy to prepare (lol) I can not help refusing to see the characters lined up.


Chief architect Mr. Ko Jun (Ko Jun):
It is my first time to announce these figures in one place. I think that it will develop in the future. I am very nervous by having many people see it.


Mr. Yuri Chief, Yuri (Lily):
I want to pursue more reality than ever before. I am very excited about the event.


Production director Hong Ming Chul (J. C.):
It has been four years since I joined the company, but it was a good opportunity to look back on what I've been doing. What are you doing, I'm scolded myself that I have not done anything yet.


Frank Dubois, CEO of Japan Office (Frank):
I am very happy to be able to hold such big events. As a person who grew up in the Japanese figure culture, I think that it is important to be able to hold in Japan in the sense that we can inform you that "figure culture has grown so far overseas."


◆ Looking back on the 10th year
Hyper Hobby:
Looking back over the past ten years, how do you think?

Howard:
I never thought at the beginning that I could grow so far. I did not think that he could get so many copyrights and I think he is a gift from God. I would like to continue working hard to develop hot toys in the future.

Ko Jun:
Since I was a longing company, I was collecting figures of Hot Toys before joining the company, so it is fun to be able to work with everyone at Hot Toys. I am very satisfied.

Yuri:
I joined four years ago, but before joining the company, I did not think that I was a company that I could join in as an image of a big company overseas. I am really happy that I can actually work on hot toys. I would like to focus on the future development of hot toys.

J. C. .:
When I first talked with Howard at a tattered hotel, I thought that he would be able to do a big job. From that time on, he was a very humble person but a person who speaks very frankly. I still respect it strongly.

Frank:
This decade has exceeded expectations. I am happy to think that it is the result of our teamwork, but it is an honest impression that I am surprised. I joined in consultation that I wanted to do licensed goods 5 years ago, but in a cafe I told you I want to make a figure of alien vs. predator. I am grateful for the encounter.


◆ Character license acquisition criteria
Weekly Famitsu:
What are the criteria for obtaining licenses?

Howard:
Simple, but take a license for your favorite character. Personally I like American movie characters.

Frank:
First, I will take what I want to do. There seems to be a part called "Because it seems likely to sell" or "With socialize" by other companies, but in Hot Toys, feeling affection for the work, let me make what I thought as "I want this character figure!" It is. After that, I'd like to try making something that is fascinating visually, especially those that are very difficult to figure out.

Weekly Famitsu:
The snake of "METAL GEAR SOLID" was announced as a release schedule, but why was Snake chosen?

Howard:
The offer from the game maker was a trigger. It was a very interesting game, soon decided.

Frank:
Metal gear was a work I wanted to do as a hot toys all the time, so it feels like "I've been waiting." When talking with Kojima, answered in 30 seconds "Let's do it!" Video games are a field I would like to focus on in the future.


◆ How to become a Hot Toys Creator?
GIGAZINE:
What was the reason that Yuri and Ko Jun joined Hot Toys as an artificial teacher?

Ko Jun:
I joined the company after receiving an offer from J.C. I joined him with a senior and junior senior at the model making school and asked him to speak at that moment.

Yuri:
After graduating from college, I was helping as a part-time job at first. After that, I joined the company as a shaping master.

J. C. .:
I was originally a painter, but I need a good modeler to do a good painting. Lilies are very patient and will do without giving a disagreeable face even if we ask you to fix it many times over and over. Ko Jun is a very gentle person and a reliable person. Hot toys figurine, despite of course nomadic, but I chose it with emphasis on personality.



◆ Future challenges
Hyper Hobby:
We are doing various challenges, including incorporating eyeball operating systems and LEDs into figures, but what kind of challenge do you think you would like to do in the future?

Howard:
It's a difficult question. For the past few years I aimed at making characters realistically. The thing that I want to challenge in the future is to raise the quality of the skin of the character. I would like to do things like "make with real hair and hair."


J. C. .:
Until now, it has never been completely failed. The CEO will respond immediately as soon as you make a hope of "wanting to do this". Spare no investment to raise the quality. The person in charge of the factory is also a reliable person, and every day we strive to ensure that quality does not fall even if it is mass produced. I would like to deliver something of higher quality at a lower price.

Frank:
As hot toys, I want to make it more realistic. But this is an endless struggle. I am doing my best trying hard, but I think there are also missing parts. We are constantly stepping up and making efforts to make the latest one the best one. As J.C. says, I would like to increase the quality even in mass production, and to offer products that users can satisfy at a more affordable price.

When the event ended and passed the exit gate, the image of "SPACE PIRATE CAPTAIN HARLOCK" was flowing in the aisle. It is still unknown which character will be made into a figure, but there seems to be no doubt that a new work will appear from Captain Herlock.
