NTT DoCoMo asked if I had abandoned the iPad or offered a line to the competing model

ByNtr 23

NTT DoCoMo president Takaobu Yamada announced that it intends to provide communication services for Apple's iPad at the closing conference on April 28,Softbank Mobile 's SIM lock has been applied to models in JapanAs a result, NTT Docomo effectively became unable to provide communication service to the iPad.

So did NTT DoCoMo really give up offering communication service to the iPad? Will there be plans to provide communication services to competing terminals of iPad in the future? The "MicroSIM card" which became a topic in the arrival of the iPad is a smartphone or voice terminal I'm looking forward to see if it is expected to be offered to.

Details are as below.
The contents of the inquiries by NTT docomo's public relations department by phone and their answers are as follows.

1. Did you abandon the communication service to iPad?

NTT DoCoMo:
Rather than giving up, I was talking with the premise that "If the iPad is SIM free" at the earnings presentation etc. in the first place, I was preparing to offer the line under that premise . NT currently does not plan to release iPad from NTT DoCoMo.

2. If tablet terminals like iPad are released from other companies in the future, are they planning to provide communication services?

NTT DoCoMo:
We believe that terminals such as e-books will be released in the future, but we would like to offer prospectively if we can provide lines with SIM free model etc.

3. Is the MicroSIM card itself expected to be offered to smartphones and mobile phones in the future

NTT DoCoMo:
It depends on what kind of terminal will appear in the future, so it can not be said anything, but there are possibilities to prepare if a terminal adopting MicroSIM card comes out.

In other words, as NTT docomo seems to actively provide communication services to SIM-free terminals,Guidelines for SIM unlocking planned to be formulated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in JuneDepending on it, it may be that some sort of blowing wind blows the company.
