Successful broadband communication with communication range of 47.5 km on wireless LAN, achieve new record in Japan

It seems that Japan Radio Corporation (JRC) succeeded in communicating at a communication distance of 47.5 km, which corresponds to Japan's new record as a communication using wireless LAN.

The wireless LAN in the 2.4 GHz band was used for experiments and it is said to be used in ordinary households.

According to this release, the Japan Radio is using wireless LAN using the 2.4 GHz band in February 2008, it seems that it succeeded in about 47.5 km wireless LAN communication which is the longest distance in Japan.

This was done in cooperation with Kagoshima University Scholarly Information Infrastructure Center and Mishima Village, Japan Radio, Ibusuki City Board of Education, NTT West in support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications's strategic information and communication research promotion system, Kagoshima I was able to communicate with Ibusuki City in the prefecture and Takeshima in Mishima Village in Kagoshima District across the East China Sea at an effective speed of 8 Mbps.
