US Air Force, to acquire 300 PS3s for research purposes

The US Air Force decided to procure 300 PS3s for research purposes. Technical evaluation of the CELL processor installed in the PS3 is the purpose.

Previously at GIGAZINE,In the intractable disease analysis project PS 3 has 10,000 units and demonstrates processing capacity equivalent to 100,000 PCsIt seems that military officials are paying attention to the high processing capacity of PS3 though apparently told.

According to this release, the US Air Force seems to raise 300 PS3 of the 40 GB model. This is aimed at technical evaluation of CELL processor installed in PS3.

The reason for choosing PS 3 is that it is the best way to procure the CELL processor necessary for technical evaluation at an acceptable cost.
