Photos and movies of the state of the space shuttle assembled and launched

It is a picture and movie from the preparation for launching the space shuttle until the end of the successful launch. I am pursuing what kind of work will be done from shuttle to landing after the last operation and until the next launch.

Details are as follows.
First the Orbiter (a white fleet with feathers, the one sticking to the rocket at the time of launch) returned from space and landed. The landing site is basically decided as the Kennedy Space Center, but depending on the conditions it may land at other places such as the Edwards Air Force Base. In this picture I landed at Edwards Air Force Base.

When landed outside the Kennedy Space Center, it is transported to the Kennedy Space Center by a dedicated transport machine.

Check the Orbiter at the maintenance facility. Use the Orbiter repeatedly.


Huge containers are brought.


Inside is the external fuel tank. This is separated 8.5 minutes after launch and reenters into the atmosphere. It is not collected.


It is brought into the assembly facility.


Lift the tank upright.


Attach the solid fuel rocket booster to the tank. It falls on a parachute, so it is being collected later.


An engine is attached to the booster.


On the other hand, an engine is also attached to the orbiter. Here are three.

This is a package package for carrying to the International Space Station. It is packed in a cargo.


The silver in the bottom is a new module for the International Space Station.


It seems to be carried to the shuttle attachment position of the launch pad first.


Shuttle moves to launch pad after preparation. Move slowly 3.5 miles (about 5.6 km) from 6 hours to 8 hours.

This is the pilot seat of the dolly transporting shuttle. It is an infinite orbit.
