Firefoxhas demonstrated a proactive stance in developing AI features, and has already implemented features such as ' translation using local AI ' and ' a chat AI that displays in the sidebar to perform conversations and summaries .'

In addition, development is underway on 'Smart Window,' an AI-focused window that will be added to the regular and private windows. Smart Window offers features such as 'analyzing tab content and automatically grouping it,' 'chatting with AI,' and 'asking AI questions to perform web searches,' and testing has begun for users in the United States, Canada, and France.

This partnership allows users to select Mistral AI's 'Mistral Small 4' as an AI model available for use in Smart Window. Mozilla explained that they chose Mistral Small 4 because of its 'multilingual support capabilities in the beta version of Smart Window.'

In addition, Mozilla has added French as a supported language for Smart Window and plans further expansion in Europe during 2026.
