Apple has laid off more than 100 people at multiple offices, including its headquarters.
It has been revealed that Apple will be implementing layoffs in Cupertino, California, where its headquarters are located, and other locations. The announcement comes just weeks before an event where highly anticipated new products, including a 'foldable iPhone,' are expected to be unveiled.

According to information released under the US WARN Act, which mandates prior notice before implementing mass layoffs, Apple plans to lay off 79 people at its Cupertino headquarters, 40 at its Sunnyvale, California office, and 28 at another office, also in Sunnyvale. In this round of layoffs, the largest number of dismissed employees were software development engineers working at the Cupertino headquarters, while software engineers working on augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) products were the most affected at the Sunnyvale site.
According to an exclusive report by AppleInsider , Apple has laid off its entire VR development team and reorganized its structure in recent months to prevent the product development group from being left idle. Apple is currently developing the Apple Vision Pro VR headset, but it is believed that it will scale back this project and focus on developing smart glasses. AppleInsider stated, 'The remaining members are expected to continue developing the Apple Vision Pro and its future versions, as well as smart glasses powered by visionOS.'
Tim Cook, who served as Apple's CEO for 15 years, is scheduled to step down on September 1, 2026, and hand over the reins to John Turnus, the current Senior Vice President of Hardware. Cook will become Chairman of the Board of Directors of Apple.
