OpenRouter has released 'Image benchmarks,' which allows users to compare a large number of existing image generation AIs using the same prompt.

Many AI companies, including Google and OpenAI, have released image generation AI, but the performance of image generation AI depends on various factors such as 'faithfulness to prompts,' 'accuracy of text rendering,' and 'precision of image editing,' and the appropriate AI varies depending on the application. OpenRouter's ' Image benchmarks ' allow you to view a list of results when the same prompt is entered into various image generation AIs, making it possible to find the AI that suits your purpose.

When you access Image benchmarks, you will see the results of multiple image generation AIs generating an image for the prompt: 'A glass of white wine, filled to the brim, stands upright on a simple wooden table. The composition is a frontal shot taken at eye level, the glass is upright and not tilted, and no other objects are visible in the frame.' Only 'OpenAI: GPT Image 2' and 'OpenAI: GPT-5.4 Image 2' are able to fulfill the instruction to 'fill the glass to the brim with white wine.'

Clicking on an item name on the left will display the generated prompt for a different prompt. Clicking on 'Closed Umbrellas' displayed the generated prompt 'In heavy rain, about 12 people are holding closed umbrellas.' The generated prompts are sorted in descending order of cost, and you can also switch to sorting by generation time.

You can also check the image editing performance. Below is the result of an editing task that 'removes only the second cup from the left'.

Clicking on each image will display detailed information and a button to obtain the API key. Since you can evaluate quality based on cost and generation time, you can find an image AI that suits your purpose, whether it's 'prioritizing cost over quality while needing a certain level of text rendering performance' or 'prioritizing high quality above all else, regardless of generation time or cost.'
