The fact that the entire 1 hour and 35 minute film 'Mutiny' was temporarily available for streaming on the American version of Amazon Prime Video has become a hot topic.

According to The Verge, which reported on this matter, it is unclear when 'Mutiny' was added to Amazon Prime Video, but it was available to watch for at least an hour on August 19, 2026. Another report stated that it was accessible for nearly four hours. However, at the time of writing, accessing the same page shows it as 'unavailable.'

This issue has also been discussed on the large online forum Reddit, where a user who actually used a US VPN to access Amazon Prime Video testified that 'I didn't even need to log in to my Amazon account.'

Regarding the reason why the film was accidentally released on streaming services before its theatrical release, one comment on Reddit speculated, 'It's probably part of a release package for a film where theatrical release dates and premium VOD streaming periods haven't been finalized yet. Preparing these things in advance allows for flexibility in scheduling and standardizes the release workflow. After all, we can all access anything on the internet with just a few permissions and flags.' There are also suggestions that it's related to Lionsgate , the US distributor of 'Mutiny,' having an exclusive deal with Amazon.
